Canvas Stretching & Repair
Canvas paintings need to be maintained. A healthy canvas will by stretched to the proper tensile strength. After years of hanging around as paintings tend to do, they need to be re-stretched. It’s recommended that a canvas painting should be restretched after about 20 years. A taunt canvas will help the painting last longer, makes it more resistant to tears, rips and oil flaking and degradation. A canvas should stay evenly taunt.
